Post test

Today we finally got our test grades back!! It was a long wait but it was sure worth it because I got a 97%. the test was pretty easy in my opinion (see blog titled "Test Day.") After going over all of the answers of the test, we took some more notes on population and society and all. Today we learned about why people will immigrate and emigrate to and fro different countries. The reasons are plentiful. Civil wars, lack of proper government, lack of freedom and many more things can keep people from coming to a country and make people leave.

Test Day

Today in class we had a test. I personally think it was pretty easy, even though last time I said that I failed. It was about everything we've learned so far in class. Globalization, GPS, Mercator maps, peters maps, who voted republican and who voted democrat and so on. There was also an essay question we had to do.  There were 2 choices. I chose the first one. I don't remember the question completely, but it was something along the lines of, "Why do many companies have their goods produced not in America. I remember what I wrote but I don't think it's necessary to write the whole thing down on this blog.

Studying for the Test

Today in class, we reviewed our material for our test tomorrow. Some of the stuff we covered was about globalization and GPS's and many other topics My Notes from Class- Sir Sanford Fleming- proposed worldwide system of time zones in 1879 GPS- Global Positioning System The science of art of mapmaking- cartography The difference between the Mercator and Peters map Globalization-  a force or process that involves the entire world and results in making something worldwide in scope Give an example of thinking globally and acting locally, describe advantages and disadvantages What is a geographic coordinate system Is time real

Everything

Today in class we did all sorts of things. First we talked about who should bring in food and when they should do it. Then we introduced the shadows in the class. That took about 30 minutes of class time. After that, we talked about some things that may be on the test next week. For example: "What is cartographer?" A cartographer is a person that draws maps.

Climate Change

Today in class we talked about dogs for a little while. After everyone stopped crying, we started our class (about 30 minutes in). We talked about climate change and how the world is getting hotter everyday. It s pretty ridiculous, in my opinion, that people think global warming isn't real or that it won't effect them. It will. It already has, in fact, with the three hurricanes that happened recently. I personally think everyone should get their TVs off of Fox News and CNN and switch to a station that isn't heavily jaundiced.

Globalization

Globalization  a force or process that involves the entire world and results in making something worldwide in scope.  That means that the world is shrinking, not physically, but in the way that it is easier to access other people around the world. Everyone lives in a global economy, making everyone more similar and interdependent. Not many people in this world have never used a TV or a phone or computer.  2 Other Definitions 1. T he process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale ( https://www.google.com/search?q=globalization&oq=globalization&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.6651j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 ) 2. T he increasing interaction of people through the growth of the international flow of money, ideas and culture. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globalization ) From Global to Local Question A=  What company made them? Question B=  Where is that company from?...

Location

Today in class we talked about making an impact on our local environment but thinking about the whole world. We can do that by simply recycling or growing our own food or using a fuel efficient car. Or better yet, using an electric car like a Tesla. We also talked the BP oil soil.

The World

Today in class we talked about countries of the world. We first filled out the 25 biggest countries in the world. After doing that we talked about interesting facts about different countries of the world. There were some pretty cool facts. Mine was about how Antarctica has 23 airports. That is pretty cool.

Longitude and Latitude

Today in class we talked about longitude and latitude. Longitude are the imaginary lines going up and down the world. Latitude lines are the ones parallel to the equator. You use them to decipher location. In between each degree on a map, there is a minute, 60 minutes make up a degree, In a minute, there is a second. 60 seconds make up a minute.

Time

Today in class we argued about whether or not all time zones should exist, or if we should have one time zone that everyone shared. I personally agree with Mr. Schick that there should be a universal time zone. Time is just a social construct created by humans to make things "work." Just because we are used to 9:00 am being the beginning of the day, it doesn't have to be. The world uses one calendar and some countries on the other side are in spring right now, compared to our fall.

Today in class I made fun of Mr. Schick's shirt. It was a cool shirt, but it didn't fit the theme of Hawaiian. After that, we worked on the projects I wasn't in class for. It wasn't very hard. We had to list what the different states voted for.

Absent

Today I wasn't in class due to a doctors appointment.
